Two terrorists killed in foiled infiltration attempt along LOC in Balakot

In Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, alert Indian Army troops foiled an infiltration attempt and killed two terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakot sector on Monday morning.

A top police officer said that the terrorists who were hiding in Parigam village may have escaped from the security forces during the night.

They took advantage of the vast paddy field and the darkness to flee the scene. The search operation at the encounter site in the morning did not yield any results, even though drones were used.

Meanwhile, Jammu-based defense spokesperson Lt. Col. Suneel Bartwal said that an AK-47 rifle with two magazines, 30 rounds of ammunition, two hand grenades, and medicines originating from Pakistan were recovered from the site where the infiltrators were killed.

Lt. Col. Bartwal said that intelligence inputs from multiple agencies and the police revealed that terrorists were waiting to cross the Line of Control (LoC) from the opposite side of the Balakote sector. Based on this information, the surveillance grid was put on high alert and multiple teams were deployed at strategic locations.
